Details and Specifications of the Toile de MyAlpaca Duvet Cover
When we speak of cotton satin, we are referring to cotton woven with a satin weave. Although the technique differs from plain cotton, it is still 100% cotton. In weaving, there are two directions: warp and weft. Plain cotton uses a one-up, one-down weave, known as a plain weave. Satin weave typically uses three to seven threads over and one thread under.
The cotton satin duvet cover retains the essential properties of cotton – it breathes well and absorbs moisture efficiently – but the satin weave adds several advantages:
A subtle sheen, giving it a luxurious look.
More elasticity, slightly quieter than regular cotton, soft and smooth to the touch.
Slightly warmer than standard cotton, thanks to the tighter weave.
Easier to iron than plain cotton.
The weave allows skin and hair to glide more smoothly over the fabric.
Toile de MyAlpaca Pattern
The beautiful Toile de MyAlpaca pattern is inspired by 18th-century Toile de Jouy, depicting idyllic rural scenes with romantic couples, shepherds, and gardeners. Swedish designer Bärbel Dressler created this pattern for us, weaving alpacas into the pastoral landscape.

The name Toile de Jouy literally means “cloth from Jouy” and refers to the small village of Jouy-en-Josas near Versailles. In the late 18th and early 19th centuries, one of the leading textile manufactories there produced fabrics with these characteristic patterns. Scenes were engraved on copper plates and printed on fabric strips, later used for wall coverings, upholstery, window hangings, and even garments for Marie Antoinette and her ladies-in-waiting.
Our duvet covers are fastened with original fabric-covered Toile de MyAlpaca buttons. Each cover includes spare buttons in case any are damaged during washing.

GRANDMOTHER’S HUCK: Toile de MyAlpaca satin duvet covers have cotton ties sewn inside. These can be attached to the “loops” sewn on the duvet’s piping, preventing the duvet from slipping out of the cover’s corners. Choosing MyAlpaca bedding means you never have to worry about escaping duvet corners. Simple.

To maintain the softness and breathability of the cotton, avoid mixing natural and synthetic fibres in the wash, as synthetic fibres can adhere permanently to the cotton.
