The Art of Traditional Quilt-Making

We preserve the beauty of traditional craftsmanship and the heritage of the quilting trade.

Our duvets and pillows are handmade with meticulous attention to detail, using the traditional techniques of the master quilters’ guild. We have been fortunate to learn from true masters of this craft. With their help, we acquired a historic carding machine and restored it to its former glory, while our quilting looms were built following traditional designs. We strive to keep this beautiful artisanal heritage alive and to nurture a new generation of master craftsmen — creating products that are both exquisite and refined.

Step by step

Shearing takes place once a year, in May. Each alpaca produces around 3 kilograms of fibre annually — enough for approximately two double duvets.

The fibre is cleaned by hand on large sieves to remove vegetable matter and fine dust particles. We wash it gently, using only mild products.

Carding is the most important stage in the fibre preparation process.
It is a form of combing, carried out by hundreds of tiny needles mounted on the rollers of the carding machine.
After carding, the fibre becomes perfectly clean, soft, and formed into a several-centimetre-thick fleece.

The fleece is then placed between two layers of casing — made from natural cotton or a cotton–bamboo blend — cut precisely to the size of the duvet.

On the top layer of the casing, we trace our distinctive quilting pattern.

A key part of our process is the special method of hand quilting.

The two layers of casing are stitched together with the fibre in such a way that the filling does not shift and no cold spots form — a flaw that is inevitable with machine quilting.

Each duvet and pillow is finished with a cotton binding — either plain white or adorned with our own signature pattern.
