How do we make each duvet?
Meticulous handcrafting and artisanal tradition.
Every large MyAlpaca duvet features over 30 meters of hand stitching. That’s 2,500 precise needle pricks, nearly 20 hours of work, and years of experience—all contributing to the highest quality of your sleep.
Hand quilting with a needle is the heart of our duvet craftsmanship. It’s a traditional process dating back to the 14th century. This time-honored hand quilting method is essential to our production.

Details and specifications of the MyAlpaca duvet
Alpaca duvet for babies 280 g/m2
The filling of the baby duvet contains 280g of alpaca wool per m², making it exceptionally lightweight and breathable, while gently wrapping your baby for a cosy sleep.
The alpaca baby duvet will adapt to your child’s changing body temperature throughout the night. That’s why your baby won’t overheat, sweat, or kick off the covers.
Soft and gentle to the touch — perfect for a child’s delicate skin.
Grandma’s hack: “loops” sewn into the duvet’s binding — one in each corner and one in the middle of each side — allow you to fasten the duvet to the cover. Thanks to the cotton ties sewn inside each MyAlpaca duvet cover, the duvet corners won’t slip out of the cover. Simple as that.
Corners extending beyond
MyAlpaca duvets have slightly more pronounced corners (about 5–7 cm), allowing the duvet corners to better fill the corners of the cover. For this reason, we always measure the width and length of the duvet at its center.
Toile de MyAlpaca Collection
Each duvet in the collection comes packed in a cotton bag with button closure, featuring an exclusive pattern designed for us by Swedish textile designer Bärbel Dressler.
Composition
+100% natural alpaca. Our duvets are filled exclusively with pure alpaca fleece, without any chemical additives, which is why they are as soft and pleasant as the alpaca itself.
100% natural cotton. The cover is densely woven, silky, lightweight, and breathable—exceptionally soft to the touch with a natural sheen. Available in white.
Product care
+
- Regularly air out your duvet and pillows outdoors—especially on hot, dry, sunny, and windy days. This should be enough to keep your bedding fresh, especially if you change the covers often.
- If necessary, we recommend gentle dry cleaning and low-temperature drying. Make sure the dry cleaner follows the care instructions for wool.
- Spot cleaning with cold water and drying flat or hanging is allowed.
Warning: Do not soak in hot water or wash in an automatic washing machine. Products cleaned this way may become damaged and will not be covered by the warranty. Machine washing, even in cold water and on a wool cycle, is not recommended because mechanical agitation and spinning can shift or shrink the fibers inside the duvet.

d. Flammability - Alpaca wool is one of the least flammable natural fibers.
Wool is naturally flame resistant, making it an excellent choice for the home. Wool’s properties make it safer in the event of a fire, as wool has a very high ignition temperature of 570-600°C. In addition, wool requires a large amount of oxygen to burn due to the high nitrogen and water content in wool. As a result, wool is more difficult to ignite and burns at a lower flame speed than other unprocessed natural fibres such as cotton, linen and silk. In particular, studies show that alpaca wool is one of the least flammable natural fibres. In laboratory tests, it has shown a lower heat release rate and better self-extinguishing properties than sheep wool.
e. Safety Warnings and Precautions
Do not use near open flames, fire sources or high temperatures. Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture.
f. Safe disposal
At the end of its useful life, the product should be disposed of in accordance with local waste management regulations.
